We work with couples experiencing a wide range of relationship difficulties, including:
- Frequent arguments and conflict
- Communication problems
- Emotional distance
- Loss of intimacy
- Trust issues
- Recovery after an affair
- Parenting disagreements
- Blended family challenges
- Separation decisions
- Life transitions such as retirement or an empty nest
- Non-intimate relationships, such as between siblings or business partners
Whether your relationship is in crisis or simply feels “stuck”, we can help you understand what is happening and work towards lasting change.
Relationship counselling is most effective when both partners participate. However, if your partner is unwilling to attend, individual sessions can still help you better understand your relationship, improve communication and make positive changes.
Sessions generally last around 60 minutes, allowing sufficient time to explore concerns, learn practical tools to use for the rest of your lives, and develop strategies that can be applied immediately.
Every couple is different. There is no way to predict the number of sessions that any couple might need.
If you book a free introductory session of 40 minutes with Stan, your first session is an opportunity for us to get an idea of your relationship and your key issues and explain to you how we work. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions about the counselling process. If you skip the free introductory session, then at your first session we will identify your key issues and start working on helping your relationship.
Our counselling is based on evidence-informed relationship therapies, including Imago Relationship Therapy and Encounter Centred Couples Transformation, combined with practical tools and strategies that couples can continue using at home. In addition, because we have been in practice for so many years, we have trained in many other modalities & our 58 years of marriage have been a crucible in which we have practised what we have learned and now teach. Because each couple is different, our approach is not “one size fits all”: we tailor what we teach specifically to each couple.
Yes. Your privacy is extremely important. All counselling is conducted in accordance with professional ethical standards and Australian privacy legislation.
There are a small number of legal exceptions, such as where there is a serious risk of harm to someone or where disclosure is required by law. These situations will be explained if they ever arise.
No counsellor can guarantee that every relationship will survive. However, most couples experience significant improvements in communication, understanding and emotional connection, so that even where couples ultimately decide to separate, counselling can often help them do so with greater respect, less conflict and better outcomes for themselves and any children.

Many couples seek counselling after months or even years of struggling. Feeling discouraged does not necessarily mean your relationship cannot improve. If both partners are willing to engage honestly in the process, meaningful change is possible.
That’s very common. Many people are initially hesitant. Our role is not to take sides or assign blame. Instead, we help each partner feel heard and understood while working together to build a healthier relationship.
Simply contact Relationship Rescue Institute by phone, email or through our website enquiry form. We’ll answer your questions, explain the process and arrange an appointment at a time that suits you. Contact Us Today.

Stan Levine and the Relationship Rescue Institute have been a genuine blessing in my life. Stan’s guidance is grounded, compassionate, and deeply practical. He doesn’t offer vague advice but gives clear frameworks that help you understand yourself, your partner, and the patterns that keep relationships stuck. What I appreciated most was how safe and respected I felt throughout the process. Stan has a gift for helping people feel seen without judgment. If you’re looking for real transformation, not just surface‑level tips, I can’t recommend him enough.
